Poets know it

TALENTED young writers and poets have been encouraged to enter a competition run in Hobsons Bay.

Last week the 2013 Friends of Williamstown and Newport Libraries Summer Writing Competition opened for entries.

Students from Prep to Year 12 who go to school or live in Hobsons Bay – or who are members of local libraries – have been invited to submit their poetry or short stories to the annual writing competition.

The event is now in its 12th year and the Rotary Club of Point Gellibrand Williamstown has donated a prize pool of $840 to be awarded across five categories in the contest.

Entry forms and conditions of entry are available at http://libraries.hobsonsbay.vic.gov.au/ and at all Hobsons Bay library branches. Entries will close on Monday 25 February this year.

Winners will be announced at an awards night on Friday 15 March at the Williamstown Mechanics Institute. For more information, call 1300 HOB LIB (1300 462 542).
