Seagulls' speedy strike

IN A battle between two of the Victorian Football League’s premiership contenders, Williamstown toppled Box Hill by 25 points on Sunday.
The Seagulls burst out of the blocks, kicking seven goals in the first quarter to take a 29-point lead into the opening break.
Despite the fast start, there was no letting up at the resumption of play with Williamstown kicking another six goals in the second quarter to build on the margin.
The domination continued after half-time as Williamstown went on to secure the 16.15 (111) to 13.8 (86) win.
The margin could have been even greater after the Seagulls failed to kick a goal in the final term.
Western Bulldogs’ listed player Dylan Addison was a standout for the Seagulls, kicking four goals while Lukas Markovic provided good support, bagging three majors of his own.
Around the ground, Williamstown captain Ben Jolley was among the club’s best while Daniel Cross and Brent Prismall were also solid contributors.
For Box Hill, Matt Spangher kicked three goals and worked hard on what was a tough day throughout.
With round 12 of the VFL season complete, Williamstown moves into third position on the ladder, trailing top pair Casey and Geelong by just one game.
The Seagulls’ next game will be on Sunday 14 July against Sandringham.
