POLICE are on the hunt for a hit and run driver who ploughed into a house in Taylors Lakes over the weekend.
Police say the driver smashed into the brick wall of the two storey house, crashed into the lounge room and reversed out, causing extensive damage and two holes in the wall.
The car was travelling west down Booth Way when it lost control at around 9:30pm on Saturday.
Brimbank Highway Patrol officer Senior Constable Ashley Lane said the driver crashed through one wall, then reversed, destroying another wall, before fleeing the scene.
“Obviously it’s a fairly serious offence that could have resulted in serious injury or even been fatal,” Sen Const Lane told Star.
“Luckily no one was home at the time.”
Police are looking for the driver of a white Toyota that they believe is responsible. Sen Const Lane said the car involved would have a missing side mirror, after breaking off at the scene. Anyone with any information is urged to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
