Keilor stadium nets redevelopment funding

THE Keilor Basketball and Netball Stadium will undergo a redevelopment, thanks to funding from Brimbank City Council and the State Government.
The council has given $4.5 million to the project and the government $650,000.
Last week, the Minister for Sport and Recreation Hugh Delahunty was joined by Western Metropolitan Region MP Andrew Elsbury to announce the funding.
“Sporting facilities are important community assets and provide a social hub, particularly in places like Victoria’s second fastest growing
municipality, Brimbank,” Mr Delahunty said.
“The $5.15 million project will go a long way towards opening up new indoor sports opportunities by increasing the number of courts at the stadium from three to five.
“Along with the proposed new change rooms and storage areas, the redevelopments will help address the shortage of basketball and netball
facilities in the region, which has more players than available courts.
“This is great news for the local clubs in the Keilor Basketball Association and Keilor Park Netball Association that are keen to expand
their development programs and competitions as well as local schools that depend on the stadium,” he said.
