MELTON pre-schoolers now have another learning facility to call home, after the official unveiling of the newly refurbished Kororoit Creek Early Years Centre.
The centre was opened by Melton City Council mayor Kathy Majdlik last week after undergoing a $300,000 refurbishment to add an additional third kindergarten room to meet the increasing demand.
Cr Majdlik said the ability to expand service provision was critical as the municipality continued to grow.
At the opening, Cr Majdlik thanked the State Government for its financial support.
“It is partnerships such as this that enable us to ensure our community has the best available facilities required to meet the needs of our growing population,” she said.
“With the construction of an additional licensed kindergarten room, adding a further
66 kindergarten places at the centre, the refurbishment has improved council’s capacity to deliver quality early learning opportunities for our youngest residents and will assist us in meeting universal access requirements of 15 hours.”
She said the additional kindergarten room further enhanced the council’s capacity to deliver projects that reflected children’s interests and encouraged investigation, discovery and play, while also enabling educators to be flexible and innovative in their program delivery.
Kororoit Creek Early Learning Centre is located at 130 Tenterfield Drive, Burnside Heights.
