Taxi driver bashed

A TAXI driver was viciously bashed after he was ambushed by three men during a sickening robbery in Deer Park.
The male driver from Silvertop Taxi service had been radioed to attend a pick up in Waigani Ave shortly before 11pm when he was flagged down by a man wearing a high visibility vest.
As the taxi stopped, the man pulled a balaclava over his head, opened the driver’s side door and began punching the driver in the head. He pulled out a knife and threatened the terrified taxi driver, demanding money.
A second man also punched the victim, who is from a non-English speaking background.
Police believe another man was also involved in the attack. The trio stole cash from the man’s pockets and inside the cab. Detectives from Brimbank’s Embona Unit are investigating.
Anyone with any information is urged to call the unit on 9361 4700.
