ROBERT Falzon is taking part in this year’s ‘It’s art: Wear it! 2012’ exhibition at the Joel Gallery, making him the first male participant in the annual event.
Robert, who has been a volunteer at the Louis Joel Arts and Community Centre for six years, decided to take part in the exhibition with his wife.
“I’ve only been designing in the last 12 months,” he said.
“I’ve been making Venetian masks with my wife.”
Robert said they started to make the masks just to have something different to do.
“I made the decision that I would take part last year and realised I would be the first male (to participate).”
“It’s just such a big event and gets a lot of people in Hobsons Bay involved.”
The theme for this year’s ‘It’s art: Wear it! 2012’ exhibition is ‘romance’, with Robert’s Venetian masks perfectly complementing this idea.
The fashion and jewellery exhibition has been held at the Joel Gallery for the past seven years.
Organisers are calling on designers in not just Hobsons Bay but metropolitan Melbourne to consider taking part.
For further information contact the Louis Joel Arts and Community Centre on 9398 2511 by 10 July or visit www.louisjlcc.com.au
The exhibition will be held this September.
