WILLIAMSTOWN Superules are hoping for double premiership glory this week. The Seagulls will take on Essendon in the Premier 35s Super and Reserves grand finals at Casey Fields.
Williamstown president Geoff Gamble said it was an exciting build up for the club.
“The mood is really positive down there at the moment,” he said.
“It is going to be a tough ask. Essendon has won seven premierships in a row or something similar to that, but you’ve got to make them to win them.”
Essendon goes into the match with some serious fire power with former AFL stars Joe Misiti and Chris Johnson pulling on the red and black.
Not to be outdone, former Western Bulldog Tony Liberatore will line up for Williamstown.
If achieved, a pair of premierships would complete the Seagulls’ trophy cabinet nicely after gun forwards Robert Cavka and Nick Santullo won the goal kicking awards for the competition seniors and reserves respectively.
It is the fourth year in a row Santullo has taken out the award.
“It has been a really good year,” Santullo said.
“We made it (to the grand final) last year and lost, so hopefully this year we can go all the way.
“Essendon is a very good side. They have some really good players. It should be a good game.
“I ended up with 58 goals out of 10 games.
“I have some good players up the ground that look after me. If we win the grand final, it will cap off a fantastic year.”
Williamstown Superules are also looking for players for the 2014 season.
