STUDENTS from St Dominic’s Primary School will have many reasons to celebrate this Christmas.
The students will have their artwork displayed at the Melton Visitor Information Centre as part of the centre’s annual Christmas display.
This year’s Christmas theme at the centre is based around the stained glass windows of St Dominic’s Church.
As part of the theme, the students from St Dominic’s have been busy creating imagery that celebrated the history of the church and their school.
Art teacher Mrs Lisa Schubert said the students were excited to have their works displayed at the exhibition.
“They are really pleased and enthused to know that their work is going on display in a public forum,” Mrs Schubert said.
The students have put together a range of works for the exhibition including hanging stained window replicas they created.
Mrs Schubert said the students enjoyed taking part in community activities.
“As a school, we are always enthusiastic about engaging with the community in a whole variety of ways,” Mrs Schubert said.
“We want our children to realise that what they do can be valued and that they can be valuable within the community.”
In previous years, students have decorated windows in the community for Christmas.
Other children visiting the centre will also have a chance to create art works at the activity table provided.
The church, which was built in 1876, is part of the Melton Visitor Information Centre’s Melton Township Heritage Walk.
The exhibition can be viewed for free at the centre from 5 December 2013 to 6 January 2014.
