FOOD Lovers are gearing up to taste the culinary delights on offer at this year’s Sunshine Pho Fever.

Created by the Sunshine Business Association, Sunshine Pho Fever invites residents to take part in three separate evening sessions between 6-8 March where guests will experience three different bowls of pho.

Pho, pronounced ‘fuhr’, is a much-loved Vietnamese fragrant noodle soup usually made with chicken or beef.

Guests will learn about the story about each soup and what influences the flavours, ingredients and aromas behind the fragrant dish.

For the first time, Sunshine will be hosting the event as part of the Melbourne Food and Wine Festival.

Six restaurants in Sunshine will take part in the annual Sunshine Pho Fever event in March.

They include Phu Vinh, Nhi Nuong, Thuan An, Sao Café, Pho Hien Saigon and Queen’s Rose The Sun.

Cung Nguyen, owner of Pho Hien Saigon on Hampshire Rd, said Pho Fever is a great opportunity for residents to experience the authentic flavours available in Melbourne’s West.

“Each of the different Pho in Vietnam are made differently, and each restaurant in Sunshine makes it differently as well,” Mr Nguyen said.

“People can come and try each of the Pho’s and see what the difference is. They can find one that appeals to them and make a night out of it.”

Mr Nguyen said Pho Fever will encourage food lovers to travel further than Footscray and taste the culinary delights on offer in Brimbank.

“People can come to the Food and Wine Festival to try different restaurants in Melbourne but being a part of that will introduce Sunshine to the whole of Australia,” he said.

“The small, independent business owners want to try and make their restaurants successful, so they put 100 per cent intro their food and service.”

Tickets for Sunshine Pho Fever went on sale last Friday.
