CAR culture will come to Altona on 23 March when more than 150 vintage vehicles go on display at Apex Park.
The Hobsons Bay Men’s Shed will hold their annual Custom and Classic Car and Bike Show at the park.
The Men’s Shed Motoring Group will run the show in conjunction with the Altona Beach Festival.
The family event – which is co-sponsored by Werribee Automotive Group, Bendigo Bank and Hobsons Bay City Council – will be on from 10am to 4pm.
The aim of the Hobsons Bay Men’s Shed Motoring Group is to encourage the preservation, restoration and use of collectable motor vehicles which are more than 25 years old.
Member Graham Weightman, the proud owner of a 1966 Ford Mustang, said anyone interested in collectable vehicles was eligible to join the group.
“It is not necessary to own a collectable vehicle to join,” he said.
“Meetings are held at the Men’s Shed, 280 Queen St, Altona, at 7.30pm on the last Tuesday of each month.
“The Men’s Shed Motoring Group has an organised run each month as well as regular Car Torque meetings held at the Shed on the first Sunday of each month.
“We have catering for these events and conduct tours of our facility for those interested.
“The Hobsons Bay Community Workshop is also holding an open day on Saturday 16 February from 10am until 4pm – everyone is welcome to attend.
“The community workshop involves not only the Hobsons Bay Men’s Shed but also includes Williamstown Musical Theatre Company and the Altona Theatre Company.”
The Hobsons Bay Men’s Shed Custom and Classic Car and Bike Show will include a sausage sizzle and drinks.
