TALENTED artist Danny Sgro is making his mark in the industry with his awe-inspiring work.
The Sunshine resident, who has a flair for painting and drawing, is the new artist-in-residence at the Hunt Club Community Arts Centre.
He believes Brimbank council’s Art Spaces initiative is a great opportunity for young artists to get their work noticed by the public.
“The Hunt Club is part of the community so you get a lot of support from people,” Danny said.
“Brimbank council is backing young artists and artists in general, to revitalise and transform the area and bring positivity back to Sunshine.”
Danny has years of experience working with different mediums and considers art a form of self-expression.
The 28-year-old discovered his passion for art at a young age and now spends most of his time creating abstract works and tutoring young artists across Brimbank.
Inspired by his father’s painting and American graffiti artist Jean-Michel Basquiat, Danny decided to undertake a visual arts masters degree at the Victorian College of the Arts.
“I just was always good at art, and I guess I had a bit of a creative family, my dad use to paint in his spare time and my little brother was always sort of drawings,” he said.
The talented painter is gearing up to conduct a series of art classes at the Hunt Club in Deer Park.
During the course students will experiment with abstraction through painting, drawing and collage.
Tutorial classes will be held from 6.30-9pm every Tuesday from 12 February to 2 April Prices start at $127.
