HOBSONS Bay is a proud melting pot of multicultural goodness and its diversity is set to take centre stage with a week of celebrations.
Mayor of Hobsons Bay Councillor Angela Altair said there was plenty for everyone to see and do during Cultural Diversity Week from 16 to 24 March.
“Approximately one third of Hobsons Bay residents were born overseas, and three quarters of this group come from non-English speaking backgrounds,” Cr Altair said.
“Cultural Diversity Week is the perfect opportunity to learn about other cultures, religions and languages, celebrate our differences and ensure our multicultural community is supported,” she said.
“Everyone is invited to take part in the free local events, including a book launch featuring stories from local migrants, a film screening and activities at the Altona Beach Festival.”
This year’s theme is Many Stories, One Australia.
