Hub goes public

Laverton’s new community hub will throw open its doors to the public with an entertainment extravaganza on Saturday 16 March.
The council’s new $8.6 million multi-purpose community and health facility will showcase a huge range of local services and facilities and community groups.
Tenants include: Around Laverton Newspaper; Baywest BUG, BAPS, Brotherhood of St Laurence; Friends of Laverton Creek; Jesus is Lord Church; Laverton Community Association and Laverton Golden Age.
Tenants have been busy moving in to the hub over the past few weeks and will be available to promote services as well as join in the opening celebrations with the community.
Everyone is invited to the opening celebration from 10am to 3pm. There will be children’s activities, a sausage sizzle, roving entertainment, karate, calisthenics and craft demonstrations, a performance by the Laverton choir, giveaways and service and community information.
Hobsons Bay City Council invested $7.6 million and the State Government contributed $1 million to the hub’s construction.
The council is investing in the future of the Laverton community to create a great, modern location for people to gather and access services.
