SEVEN recent honours graduates from the Victorian College of the Arts (VCA) are currently taking part in the Future Now annual award exhibition at The Substation.
Among the artists is local Spotswood resident Zoe Croggon, who said she was excited to have her work on display at The Substation.
“I remember when it (The Substation) was just a derelict building with the windows smashed in,” she said.
“It’s such a wonderful space now – I feel quite proud of that.”
Zoe credits her artistic nature to her upbringing.
“I grew up in a pretty arty family,” she said.
“Both my parents were writers.
“I became interested in drawing through writing and so decided to study drawing.”
Zoe said her works primarily focused on collages, drawing and sculptures that derived from sources such as sports encyclopedias, photography manuals, film stills and dance catalogues.
Since graduating from VCA last year, Zoe is now focussing on exhibiting her work with pieces also currently on display at Flinders Gallery.
The Future Now exhibition opened last Thursday and will run until 24 June.
