A SIMPLE stroll along a Torquay beach inspired Cindy Chen to take a stunning photo.
The Sunshine teenager was enjoying time with her friends while on camp and immediately lunged for her camera when she spotted an amazing sunset.
Months on and the St Aloysius College student was named as a finalist in the Australian Academy of Design Photography Prize in the secondary students category.
Cindy, 15, said the photo, titled Another Day Another Sunset, was aimed at capturing the crossroads between darkness and luminous light and explore the metaphors that capture a moment in transition.
She said photography was something she had always been interested in and hoped to one day forge a career in the industry.
“I was so happy to just be named as a finalist. It’s (photography) something I’ve always been interested in,” Cindy said.
“I’m really proud of what I achieved.”
This year’s theme for the Australian Academy of Design Photography Prize was Between Darkness and Light. Cindy’s work was exhibited at the academy’s Clement Meadmore Gallery last month.
