A gem of an arrest

A WOMAN has been arrested in relation to 18 alleged burglaries carried out in Albanvale and Deer Park.
Senior Sergeant Matt Noi, of the Brimbank CIU, said the 47-year-old Reservoir female was arrested in Sunshine on Monday 29 July.
Sen Sgt Noi said the woman has been taken into custody and remanded to appear in court at a later date.
He said the woman was allegedly targeting residential properties and stealing jewellery in Brimbank.
“The arrest has certainly impacted on the rate of burglaries in the Brimbank police service area,” Sen Sgt Noi said.
Brimbank Embona detectives have also executed search warrants in Deer Park and Melton, following two armed robberies in Deer Park on 17 July.
Officers seized allegedly stolen property and a Deer Park man, 25, has been charged and remanded in custody.
Sen Sgt Noi encouraged Brimbank residents to contact authorities if they witnessed crimes in progress.
“We would ask the Brimbank community to be particularly vigilant of people loitering suspiciously in residential areas, not just near homes but also near vehicles,” he said.
“They should alert us because then we are able to potentially identify, arrest and remand a person in the event of a crimes and hopefully this has an impact on the rate of crime in Brimbank.”
