POLICE have arrested a second man in relation to an alleged Albion brawl, which involved around 150 people last month.
Detective Senior Constable Paul Ziebell, from the Brimbank CIU, said an 18-year-old male from Truganina had been arrested in relation to the alleged fight.
Along with a 27-year-old Western Australian man, the teenager has been assisting police with their inquiries.
On Sunday 28 July, the alleged brawl erupted at a function centre in Talmage St.
Gatecrashers allegedly attempted to gain entry to a ticketed event, attended by around 300 people, staged to celebrate Liberia’s independence day.
Det Sen Const Ziebell said a fight broke out between two groups, with the offenders allegedly throwing bottles and hitting each other with steel poles which they found lying on the ground.
Many of the perpetrators had fled by the time police arrived on the scene at 3am, but two males later presented at Sunshine Hospital.
Det Sen Const Ziebell said one of the males had been stabbed in the upper chest.
“He was in hospital in a life-threatening situation and now he is stable,” Det Sen Const Ziebell said last week.
The other man sustained head injuries, bruising and lacerations to his back after being hit with a pole.
In a separate incident, a 46-year-old male was allegedly stabbed at a home in Maynard St, St Albans, last Tuesday.
Det Sen Const Ziebell said the man, who was allegedly stabbed in the abdomen with a knife, arrived at Sunshine Hospital during the early hours of last Tuesday morning.
Police said they believed the offender was allegedly known to the victim.
