From Valentine to marriage

By Vanessa Chircop
WHEN Anna Hrushkar first laid eyes on Martin Sanjo she knew she’d been hit by Cupid’s arrow.
Meeting at a family barbecue two years ago, their romance soon blossomed and it couldn’t have made their parents any happier.
“Our parents go to church together,” she said.
“They’ve always wanted to be in-laws.”
This Valentine’s Day Anna and Martin will be married at the Williamstown Botanic Gardens.
“I picked Valentine’s Day because I met him the week before, two years ago,” she said.
“We can’t wait – the first time I saw him he appealed to me.
“Our families are very excited.”
The mother of two said none of her previous partners have ever made her feel the way Martin does.
“He’s very special to me, I know him inside out.”
Anna will be walked down the garden by her 13-year-old daughter, who is very excited to be playing such a special role in her mum’s big day.
The couple, who live in Altona Meadows, chose the Botanic Garden’s as the romantic setting for the ceremony because of Martin’s love of flowers. Anna said she’s had a lot of support organising the wedding with her sister putting her hand up to be the wedding planner.
“I’m quite a romantic – we’re really looking forward to it.”
