FOR first-time mum Shantel Brekalo this Sunday will signify one of the most special days of her life.
The Caroline Springs resident can’t wait to spend Mother’s Day with her precious daughter Jasmine in her arms.
Like all children, little Jasmine already holds the key to her mother’s heart and will be the centre of attention at festivities this weekend – and not only for proud parents Shantel and Andrew.
Born on Tuesday 23 April, the tiny bundle is the first grandchild for both families and is the perfect Mother’s Day gift for her doting grandmothers Mirjana and Sylvia.
Shantel said the family would celebrate the day by coming together for dinner.
“It will be a very special moment in my life,” she said.
“I appreciate my mum even more now and what she has sacrificed for me.”
The proud mum said she experienced a kaleidoscope of emotions when Jasmine was born and is learning something new each day.
“It was the most intense feeling of happiness I have ever felt … I remember holding her in my arms and crying because I was so happy I had a healthy daughter.”
The speech pathologist believes her most important job as a mother is to be a responsible role model for Jasmine and help her have the best life she can possibly have.
“I want her to have morals and ethics, to be an honest and loving person who is able to contribute to society.”
As for a special treat for the loving mum this Sunday? Well Shantel is waiting to see what new dad Andrew has in store for her.
