REIGNING VWFL Premier Division champion Diamond Creek continued on its winning way on Sunday at Plenty War Memorial Park, recording an 18.18 (126) to 2.3 (15) victory over the St Albans Spurs.
After an even start to the contest, the momentum was ripped away late by the home team as they slammed three late goals to gain control of proceedings.
A further five goals in the second quarter saw the Creekers take a 10-goal lead into the long break and set up a thumping win.
While the Spurs plugged away, their hosts just looked in another weight division.
Third quarters have been problematic for the Spurs over the early rounds, but they put in their best effort of this early season to contain the reigning premiers to three goals.
The game meandered along to reach an anti-climatic ending, with Diamond Creek taking advantage of a tiring but committed Spurs unit that battled, but were ultimately outclassed.
Steph Chiocci, Katie Loynes and Brittany Grech were the best among the superior Demons unit.
Tayla Dinuccio, Bree White and Danni Teasdale kept their heads high for the beaten Spurs.
The Spurs head to Melbourne Uni to take on an exciting Mugars outfit and hoping to get off the bottom of the ladder.
Earlier in the day in the Reserves, Diamond Creek got back on the winners list with a convincing 10.18 (78) to 0.1 (1) win.
