POWERLINES in Aviation Rd Laverton will be relocated underground to improve the shopping precinct’s electricity network and appearance as part of a $1.1 million makeover of the street.
Temporary road closures will be in place on 11 and 12 July so Powercor can conduct the works.
The following road closures and detours will be in place: Triholm Ave, Laverton will be closed to all west bound traffic, except buses, between Aviation Rd and Neville Ave; Aviation Rd, Laverton will be open with altered traffic conditions and delays expected; Aviation Rd will be closed to traffic at both ends on 12 July. (However pedestrian access will be available.)
The Aviation Road Streetscape Project is expected to be completed by late 2009, and includes undergrounding the overhead power lines, a new central median strip, new concrete footpaths, widening the footpath on the eastern side of the street, improved street lighting, and tree planting and landscaping.
