HILLSIDE moved to top spot on the Essendon District Football League ladder after thrashing competition strugglers Jacana by 229 points on Saturday.
The Sharks dominated the contest from the word go, kicking eight goals in the first quarter and refusing to let up on the pressure from there.
At the other end of the ground, it was a tough slog for Jacana who kicked one goal in the first quarter, but could not add to that throughout the day.
Fifteen Hillside players kicked goals in the 36.22 (238) to 1.3 (9) win with a bag of six from David Crook and five each to Jarrod Catania and Alex Farrar also being highlights.
The win lifts Hillside to top spot on the Division Two ladder after East Keilor suffered a shock loss to Moonee Valley last week.
The Sharks are equal on 28 points with the Cougars, but hold an 11-point percentage gap over their greatest rivals to a premiership.
This week Hillside will play fourth-placed Roxburgh Park.
KEILOR Park continued its bright finish to the 2012 season with an upset win over Roxburgh Park on Saturday.
The Devils led at every change throughout the clash and were able to survive a fast finishing Roxburgh Park, who kicked six final quarter goals to close the margin and create a few nervous moments.
However, the Keilor Park players stood firm to claim the 13.9 (87) to 11.9 (75) win.
Jake Thomas was outstanding for the Devils, booting five goals while Tim Foxcroft also kicked three.
Around the ground, Brad Williams won a number of important contests to be named Keilor Park best player for the day.
The win was the third for the Devils this season and ignites the club’s finals chances. Keilor Park currently sits in fifth place on the ladder, but is just percentage behind Roxburgh Park in fourth.
