TWO people have died after a car fire near the Keilor cemetery last week.
Emergency services were called to a blaze near Tunnecliffe Court after reports a silver sports car was on fire around 10.10am on Thursday.
A woman died at the scene while a man was taken to The Alfred Hospital with extensive burns.
The 54-year-old Keilor East man died shortly after 6pm on Thursday night.
Arson and Explosives Squad detectives were working with Homicide and Brimbank detectives to investigate the cause of the blaze.
Police spent several hours processing the scene on Thursday, removing the woman’s body from the car with the assistance of the SES and fire crews in the afternoon.
Brimbank Acting Inspector Chris Gilbert said the fire was not linked to any other incidents and residents should not be concerned.
A police spokesperson would not confirm or deny that the incident was a murder-suicide.
He said police would prepare a report for the Coroner.
