Ready to roll

WILLIAMSTOWN has continued its off-season recruiting spree by adding former Essendon and Geelong midfielder Brent Prismall to its 2013 playing list.
The signing came after Prismall was appointed the player well-being co-ordinator at the Western Bulldogs, Williamstown’s AFL affiliate side.
The role was vacated by former Seagulls’ player and now Bulldogs’ rookie Brett Goodes.
Prismall will work closely with the Bulldogs’ playing list, with a focus on supporting younger players as well as playing with the Seagulls.
Western Bulldogs general manager of football James Fantasia said Prismall’s AFL experience along with strong leadership qualities make him a good fit for role.
“Brent is a very capable young man and will be instrumental in working with our playing list and in particular our younger playing group,” he said.
“We believe we’ve brought another quality person into our organisation and look forward to seeing Brent flourish in his new role.”
After playing his junior football with the Western Jets, Prismall was selected by Geelong in 2004 with pick 32 in the national draft.
He played 25 games in three years with the Cats before he was traded to Essendon where he went on to play a further 36 games until he was delisted at the end of the 2012 season.
Prismall joins former AFL footballers Justin Sherman and Cameron Wood in signing with the Seagulls for the 2013 season.
Williamstown football manager Chris Dixon said the addition of Prismall was exciting news for the club.
“He (Prismall) is a very good football player and an extremely good character so it’s a massive addition to our group,” Dixon said.
“When we first sat down with Brent he indicated he saw Williamstown as the best option for him regardless of whether he got the role at the Western Bulldogs or not, which was encouraging for us.
“Brent had spoken to a couple of our past players who spoke highly of our environment, and as a Western Jets junior it’s great for him to return to his aligned VFL club. It’s going to be a great fit for him working with the Western Bulldogs and playing at Williamstown and we’re very excited about what he can provide both on and off the field.”
During the Christmas break, the Seagulls also added talented Calder Cannons pair Andrew Gallucci and Sean Hetherington.
