KASIA Daniel could empathise with the thousands of preppies across Brimbank last Friday.
The West Sunshine resident had butterflies in her stomach all week in the lead up to her first day at school – as a teacher not a student.
Speaking last week, Ms Daniel said her first day teaching at Glengala Primary School would be daunting but she was excited to put her years of study into practice.
“I’m very excited but nervous at the same time. Teaching will be a totally different ball game to studying,” the 21-year-old said.
Ms Daniel will teach Grade one and sees it as a nurturing role as much as an educating one.
“You need to get down to their level with younger students and you need a lot of energy.”
Last year the Melbourne University graduate underwent her teaching round at Glengala Primary School and was pleased to be back there in a permanent role.
“I was rapt when I found out. The staff are so supportive here and have been a big help.”
Born in Poland and arriving in Australia as a young student, Ms Daniel has a keen interest in helping fellow migrants at the school and is particularly eager to help them improve their literacy skills.
“I can really relate to them because I was born overseas.
“I can’t wait to get into it and improve students’ learning and see their progress.
“It’s so gratifying to see them learn. Teaching is such a rewarding job.”
