A KEALBA man has inadvertently led police to his own drugs lab.
Neighbours called police after the man was seen trying to break into a home in Driscolls Rd at around 5:45pm on 29 January.
The man, who had accidentally locked his keys out of his house, was using a crowbar to break in through the front door when police arrived.
Officers questioned the man who claimed the house belonged to his girlfriend, but was unable to provide her name or any identification.
Suspecting foul play, police broke in to the home, where they found a hydroponic drugs lab set up across five rooms. Detectives executed a search warrant on the property and seized 55 cannabis plants.
The front door of the house was severely damaged during the man’s attempt to break in. Police arrested the man but later released him. He is expected to be charged on summons to appear in court.
