POLICE are on the hunt for an armed robber who attempted to hold up The Sugargum Hotel in Caroline Springs last year.
Investigators believe the man and an accomplice were also responsible for a string of other robberies at pubs and clubs across Melbourne.
At around 12.40am on 23 September, the man attempted to rob a hotel in Caroline Springs.
Police believe he and another man robbed the Cramers Hotel in Preston half an hour later, threatening staff and making off with cash.
The men are also believed to have been involved in an earlier robbery at the Yarra Valley Country Club in Templestowe on 4 September.
At around 11.05pm, the men, wearing facemasks and armed with a sawn-off gun and silver handgun, held up the club and fled with an undisclosed sum of cash.
Both men are around 170cm tall and of medium build.
Police are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.
They have released identikit photographs of two men they believe may be able to assist them with their inquiries.
