A GROUP of soccer mums have banded together to form a new women’s group for fellow soccer mums and women of the West.
The Cairnlea Women’s Club, based at Cairnlea Football Club, is a newly formed social club for all women in the area.
Long-time friends and former committee members of the football club, Janev Aziz, Yesim Esat, Zehra Cileli and Gulsun Yildirim have reunited to head the group, which kicked off last month with a successful meet and greet session and bingo event night.
“I think something like this is important for women who may not have a social outlet, or would like to expand their social circle,” club president Ms Aziz said.
“This is for them, a place where they can belong.”
Secretary Ms Cileli said it was time for the mums behind the players to belong to a team of their own.
“Over the years through our involvement, we’ve seen all the hard work mums put in and this is a club to reward the mums,” Ms Cileli said.
Vice-president Ms Esat said she hoped the group would be embraced by women from all cultures and backgrounds and of all ages.
“It’s all about women coming together and having a laugh, it’s so much fun and it gives us a break from the hustle and bustle of everyday life,” Ms Esat said.
Money raised through events and fundraisers organised by the volunteer based group will be donated back to the football club to support the children.
For more information find “Cairnlea FC” on Facebook or visit the club on a Friday night at Furlong Rd, Cairnlea.
