Tales that captivate

IT WAS dreamtime at the park in Brimbank last week as the community gathered to hear traditional Aboriginal creation stories by Western Creations storyteller Alan Harris. Alyssa and Prioshka (pictured with Alan Harris) joined the outdoor, interactive session at Selwyn Park and enjoyed listening to stories about nature and the environment and also singing along to songs. The event was part of Brimbank Library storytime sessions, which are held regularly at the libraries and across parks in the municipality. Brimbank Council’s community wellbeing director Neil Whiteside said the sessions were a great way to bring people together in the neighbourhood. “Library story times are about teaching the importance of reading and word play with young children,” he said.
