A SITE has been set up to share the “highlights” from Western Metropolitan MP Bernie Finn’s Facebook page.
The Tumblr account ‘Bernie Finn MLC’ began posting from the social media site in August last year and claims not to be a fan blog.
The Tumblr page shares hundreds of posts and pictures from the outspoken Liberal MP’s Facebook account. Some of the “highlights” listed by the page include JuLIAR, Showbags Shorten and Climate science = abortion.
A selection of posts include Mr Finn’s comparison of Education Department workers as examples of people that you could find in Hell and his urging people to send a message to the “‘Climate Change’ industry” by turning on all electrical appliances and lights during Earth Hour.
The Tumblr account also shares some of the more controversial comments made by Mr Finn’s Facebook friends, including one which claims homosexual people only want to adopt for “brainwashing and sexual abuse of a minor”.
The account has attracted negative attention from the Tumblr community, with some commenting that the content of the blog is always shocking, while others ask Mr Finn to “stop sticking (his) nose into everyone’s uteri”.
But Mr Finn said he wasn’t offended by the Tumblr account.
“If that’s the worst thing that happens to me all year, that’s great. My view is that freedom of speech is absolutely paramount. I think there’s a growing tendency in politics in Australia and in the world to have control over what is said and done.”
He said he didn’t agree with everything others posted on his Facebook page, but had only ever deleted one comment. He said his Facebook page had become a forum for a “wide variety of views” and he welcomed the Tumblr account.
