From miles of smiles to charity

By ALESHA CAPONE

WEDDING car chauffeur Marcus Spiteri is fond of saying he does “miles for smiles”.
As the operator of Cloud 9 Wedding Car Hire in Sunshine West, he owns a Rolls Royce and a Bentley to drive brides, grooms and bridesmaids around in.
Mr Spiteri estimated he has delivered more than 150 brides to the altar across the past five years – with his own wife of 35 years, Sylvia, by his side in the family business.
Mr Spiteri said family was very important to him, which is why he was happy to assist nephew Matthew with an upcoming charity night.
Matthew and the Taylors Lakes Hotel are holding an event to raise funds for the Heart Foundation on 26 October.
Mr Spiteri has donated a car transfer worth $300 to a charity auction to be held on the night.
“Matthew was born with a heart defect when he was a baby and that was pretty traumatic,” Mr Spiteri said.
“He is very close to us, so anything we can to help with that sort of thing is a passion for us and anything we can do to help that research, of course we will do.”
Mr Spiteri said his love of cars led to him being in the wedding vehicle business.
“You’ve got to be passionate about it, not just for the money,” he said.
“It’s fun to do and it’s a positive thing to be involved in. I get a buzz out of it, getting dressed up like a chauffeur and driving them around.”
The Heart Foundation charity event will be on 26 October from 6.30pm at the Taylors Lakes Hotel. Cost: $60 adults and $25 children. Tickets: 0414 822 474.
