STUDENTS from a Keilor Downs primary school are being warned to be vigilant after a man was seen asking young girls, waiting at nearby bus stops, if they needed a lift.
Parents from Saint Mary MacKillop Primary School received a letter late last month encouraging them to remain cautious but not alarmed.
The letter stated that a student from a secondary school close by was approached by a male asking her if she wanted a lift. It’s believed the man persisted but then drove off and approached another girl at a nearby bus stop and then a woman walking along the footpath.
The letter went on to say police had been notified and the school believed it was important parents were informed.
A parent who did not wish to be named said she was concerned when she received the letter and had been particularly attentive when dropping off and picking up her child.
Sen Sgt Trevor O’Shanassy from Keilor Downs Police said any parents who witnessed suspicious behaviour should contact the station immediately on 9365 3333.
