A CAROLINE Springs singer hopes to become the new voice behind one of Australia’s most loved and recognised television theme songs.
Stephanie Angelini will go up against a singer from the UK for a chance to go down in history as the voice of the new Neighbours tune.
The 21-year-old received the most votes in the Australian leg of the Neighbours Remixed competition, which offered budding musicians a chance to record their voice to the new theme song, and she told Star she was already so proud of what she had achieved.
“Nothing like this has ever happened to me or my family,” Stephanie said.
But it has been a long journey for the aspiring diva who first began singing lessons as a 13-year-old.
“I always loved singing … I was always writing songs, doing gigs and playing the guitar.
“When I’m on stage, it’s like this is who I am. Every time I finish a gig, I’m so happy.”
Stephanie said her music was inspired by iconic pop star Taylor Swift and her struggle to rise to the top. Like her idol, the university student enjoys performing an array of musical genres including pop, country, folk and ballads.
“I write my songs from past experience or sometimes it just comes down to the melody.”
If she is successful in the Neighbours Remixed competition, Stephanie will also get a chance to tour the set and meet the cast of the popular drama.
