IDENTICAL twin sisters Lizzie and Rosie are used to being confused for one another but when it comes to rocking you could say they have twin power.
The 21-year-old Altona musicians started busking when they were 11 at a market in St Andrews.
It wasn’t long before their talent was picked up by an agent, but it hasn’t been all smooth sailing for the girls, who have learnt the hard way that show business can be tough.
Rosie, on piano and vocals and Lizzie on guitar and vocals met and worked with a number of producers in their teens.
At 16 they were recording and writing their own music and juggling school.
It wasn’t long before they started to realise that to make the industry happy they would have to change their style and look.
“It was hard we were also trying to get through being a teenager,” Rosie said.
Today, wiser and older, the girls who have aptly named themselves the Gemini Twins, like the star sign, are as ambitious and determined than ever.
“We’ve just started putting our songs on the internet because we were never allowed to do it,” Lizzie said.
“Finally, we can put ourselves out there.” Rosie added.
The girls said they took a year off after their first impressions of the music industry, but that it gave them perspective, a stronger outlook for their future and knowing they could make it on their own terms.
Both musicians agree that their whole life has been about music, and they wouldn’t have it any other way.
“We have day jobs, but we want to be out there on the radio, doing film clips, performing, just the full life of constant music every day and working towards music and the whole drama,” Rosie said.
