THE St Albans Spurs will have a new look in 2013 with all four of the club’s women’s teams needing new coaches.
After a brilliant season on the field, the new candidates will have some big shoes to fill across the club’s seniors, reserves, youth girls and under 12 grades.
Spurs football manager Erin Davenport said the Spurs would be happy to hear from any interested coaches.
“It will definitely be tough to replace them (outgoing coaches) because we had such success this year,” she said.
“Our youth girls coach has been there for four years and won four premierships so she will be a massive loss.
“We really want to hear from anyone who would be interested.
“For the right candidate we are happy to put them through the accreditations that they need. It is more about personality and fitting in well in the team environment.”
Davenport is looking for the new coaches to help the development of the club with the goal of uniting all teams under the Spurs banner.
“We want an environment with pride and commitment for the club,” Davenport said.
“That is what it is about, trying to get the whole club in an environment where all four teams are one united club rather than being split into the four team.
“So the under 12s know they can come and watch the senior girls and they know the numbers and they know someone’s name and the same thing, the seniors will come down and watch the under 12s because they are our players in future years.”
Despite losing four coaches in the off-season, the Spurs have managed to keep the majority of their playing group together ahead of pre-season training which is just six weeks away.
“As we do every season we will be looking at doing some more recruitment,” Davenport said.
“Hopefully we can keep the same skill level we had this year. We had a lot of players in 2012 but we still performed really well. I think that says a lot about the coaching staff we had this year as well.”
