Police kill two dogs

POLICE were forced to destroy two dogs in Melton South last week.
Police were called to a Staughton St property, where it is believed a number of dogs, who had attacked a man near the Melton Railway Station, were on the loose.
It is believed up to five dogs were involved in the attack and police, along with council rangers, made attempts to round up the animals who were described as “bull terrier like”.
A 17-year-old from Kurrunjang received minor injuries and a number of other people felt threatened as the dogs led police and rangers on a chase through parkland – with one dog running into a supermarket.
Two of the dogs were shot by police as they were deemed to be unsafe for retrieval and became extremely aggressive, venturing up side streets and going under at least one private home.
The other three dogs were caught by rangers.
Police believe the dogs managed to get free from the Staughton St property and the owner was spoken to by local laws officers.
