FORGING a career in Hollywood is no easy task, but one young Tarneit resident is already a prize-winning moviemaker.
Not only is she a keen actress, but Helena Carapina, 15, and her younger sister Daniela, 12, recently made a film clip which won them the chance to meet teenage singing sensation Justin Bieber.
The siblings read about the competition on the singer’s official website, which posed the question, “How do you promote ‘Bieber Fever’ at home?”
The contest challenged fans to spread the word about Justin and his music, with the winners getting a chance to meet the young star before his Melbourne concert.
“We filmed a video, we made signs and carried them around Werribee Plaza,” Helena said.
“We made fliers and put them in post boxes around the neighbourhood, on car windscreens and on the doors of shops.
“Mum also drove to the plaza and back with a sign in the car too.”
Daniela and Helena said they were thrilled to meet the singer.
“I was really excited and nervous at the same time,” Helena said.
“I’d never met anyone that famous.”
However Helena, who is in Year 9 at Thomas Carr College, could possibly meet some more celebrities in her future.
She has been studying acting for five years and attends Adam Turnbull Acting classes in Hoppers Crossing.
“I like television and movies, maybe I’d like to start off behind the camera as an audience member or an extra and hopefully work my way to the front,” Helena said.
“I think what I like best is just playing different characters and showing their emotions, it’s more than just saying lines.
“I’d really like to go to America and be in a TV show and perhaps an extra in a movie.”
