THE STATE Government has given a $500,000 boost to Brimbank City Council’s plan to renew Errington Reserve.
The grant will be used to construct a multi-purpose community centre at the reserve, which is undergoing a facelift through the council’s new master plan for the site.
Western Metropolitan MP Andrew Elsbury said the community centre would provide council with the first stage of the master plan.
“The new centre and reorientation of the existing centre, will provide additional multi-purpose community space to allow more members of the community to interact with each other with more activities, programs, meetings and events being held,” Mr Elsbury said.
Brimbank Administrator Meredith Sussex said the council’s current budget has allocated funding for the design stage of the Errington precinct and that the grant would help deliver the project.
“Our Errington Precinct Master Plan that was out for community comment till very recently proposes the creation of a large, high quality community hub for the district of St Albans, through significant redevelopment of sporting and unstructured recreation spaces within Errington Reserve and a range of new and redeveloped community infrastructure, including the redevelopment of the existing Errington Community Centre,” Ms Sussex said.
“Council appreciates the investment of the Victorian Government in significant community assets in Brimbank, and in programs that are leading to community and urban renewal in the municipality, such as the St Albans Connect urban renewal project.”
