TEAL will be the hot new nail polish colour of the season with ladies across the western suburbs encouraged to get their nails ‘coloured for a cause’.
Teal is the international colour of ovarian cancer and Australians are being invited to paint their nails in the colour to help raise awareness of ovarian cancer this month.
Chemmart Pharmacy and Ovarian Cancer Australia have joined forces for Ovarian Cancer Awareness month (February), with special limited edition teal nail polish packs being sold in selected stores.
“We are encouraging people to have their nails painted and purchase the Colour for a Cause for $6.99 with the full proceeds going to Ovarian Cancer Australia,” said Altona North Chemmart Owner Denise Drew.
“It’s a condition in which most people are unaware of the symptoms, so we are trying to promote the awareness of that,” Ms Drew said.
Ms Drew and her staff have all painted their nails for the cause and are also offering in-store manicures in return for a gold coin donation.
Proceeds from the ‘Colour for a Cause’ polish packs and manicures will go to OCA to raise awareness of the symptoms, risks and impact of ovarian cancer and assist in the delivery of its awareness, support, advocacy and research programs.
The team at Altona North will also continue their fundraising by hosting an ‘Afternoon Teal’ where they will bake cupcakes to sell for a donation on Wednesday February 26, which is also Teal Ribbon Day.
“We hope to see Australians come out in force during February wearing their teal nail polish to show their support for women suffering from ovarian cancer and raise much needed funds for OCA,” said Chemmart Pharmacy Executive Director Johnathon Layton.
Daring men are also encouraged to add a splash of colour in support of the cause.
The Colour for a Cause nail polish packs are now available until stocks last at the Altona North, Melton, Watergardens and Keilor Village stores.
