GREEN thumbs across Melton can take a guided walk through one of the town’s most picturesque gardens this month as part of the Sustainable Living Festival.
Friends of Melton Botanic Garden will host the tour, and residents will be shown which plants tolerate a dry climate and low water conditions and how FMBG is trying to achieve environmental sustainability.
The free walks will run this Wednesday 12 February, Sunday 16 February and Friday 21 February from 10am and will be followed by a morning tea.
As part of the Sustainable Living Festival, Melton City Council is also offering tours of the Melton Library and Learning Hub.
Residents are invited to take part in the tours on Friday 14 February, between 2pm and 4pm to learn more about the building’s sustainable features.
Melton mayor Bob Turner said the festival aimed to inspire and empower everyday Australians to accelerate the uptake of sustainable living.
