AN ELITE gymnast who decided to swap routines for acting class has discovered her ultimate dream.
Sarah-Jane Kernaghan was a Victorian Champion in gymnastics during her youth which required a training regime of 30 hours a week.
In her mid-20s the shy Newport resident decided to pursue her creative side and start acting class.
“I wanted to be in those roles and experiencing those different situations, expressing yourself through emotions is an amazing feeling,” she said.
Last year the 31-year-old joined Adam’ Turnbull’s Adult Acting Class and as a result had her first casting for a Target television commercial.
“When I started Adams class through his connection I got an audition with an agent, after the audition I was accepted to the agency,” she said.
“I’m being exposed to the industry and people that do cast which I haven’t had experience before.
“It was very exciting because it is a very hard industry.”
Sarah-Jane said she will continue Adam’s class but discovered her ultimate passion for directing after participating in a RMIT student film last year.
“I wanted to be making the decision and calls, that’s more the role I’m after.
“You get to be in charge of whole creative process and express the things you’re passionate about.”
Adam Turnbull Acting runs an Adult Class in Williamstown on Saturdays and Altona Meadows on Monday.
It caters for beginners to advanced.
