POLICE handed out almost 50 offences to reckless and dangerous motorists in January as part of Operation Ridealong.
A total of 47 offences were detected over two days with Melton South, Kurunjang and Taylors Hill some of the hot spots.
Melton Highway Patrol members focused on off-road motorbike use at creeks and reserves in the Melton police service area including Tamar Drive, Melton South, Manning Avenue, Kurunjang and Barwon Terrace in Taylors Hill.
Police performed 17 preliminary breath tests and checked 18 vehicles during the blitz.
As part of Operation Ridealong police detected six unregistered vehicles, five seatbelt offences, five unlicensed drivers, three mobile phone offences and four motorists exceeding the speed limit.
Operation Ridealong ran from 26 to 28 January.
