A MELTON environmental group has welcomed a grant which will see work along Arnolds Creek continue to improve.
Melton Environment Group and the Lifestyle Communities Brookfield Residents Group were recently granted funding of almost $10,000 by Melbourne Water under the River Health Incentives Program, for environmental work along Arnolds Creek, as part of the Arnolds Creek Biolink Project
Daryl Akers, president of the Melton Environment Group, said the groups would use the funding to buy new planting equipment and safety equipment for planting and maintenance and new plants.
Mr Akers said the grant would also cover administration costs, such as incorporation fees, public liability, and website maintenance.
“Arnolds Creek flows for most of its course through Melton. It is therefore of high importance as a wildlife corridor through our rapidly developing urban region. Such a corridor is especially important to migratory birds. We must protect these wildlife corridors through Melton, by restoring the natural vegetation of our local creeks,” he said.
