It’s lights on to a net benefit

ALTONA City Soccer Club will receive $73,679 to install and upgrade lights at their H.C. Kim Reserve as part of a State Government program.
Altona City Soccer Club president Ray Chetchuti said he was over the moon by the announcement.
“We’re always fighting, rallying and lobbying to upgrade our facilities,” he said.
“Especially with the amount of kids we’ve got coming through.
“We need those funds to upgrade and accommodate all the kids that want to play soccer.”
Mr Chetchuti said the club had about 450 playing members.
“We’re a fairly large club,” he said.
“We obviously need to expand and that money will help to help accommodate all of these kids.”
Western Metropolitan Region MP Bernie Finn said local clubs were attracting greater numbers to their ranks, especially with the recent announcement of the return of Harry Kewell to play for Victory in the A-League.
“This funding boost will ensure Altona City Soccer Club can not only cater for growing demand but accommodate even more people from the wider community wanting to join in the fun,” Mr Finn said.
Mr Finn said the program, Strengthening the World Game Program, will not only benefit the soccer club but will develop and open up a range of
possibilities for other sports as well as nearby schools.
Minister for Sport and Recreation Hugh Delahunty said the program had provided over $4.5m in funding to 56 projects across Victoria to date.
