IT’S traditional and a gift that never fails to please. Flowers.
This Valentine’s Day couples are expected to be spending during trip to the florists to purchase a gift for a loved one.
Last week staff at Wildberry Flowers and Gifts including part owner Anita Greenacre, were preparing for one of the busiest days of their calendar year, only matched by Mother’s Day.
“It’s pretty calm before-hand but then the week of it’s usually very hectic just getting organised and getting everything done and putting orders in,” Ms Greenacre said.
Ms Greenacre said her shop was geared for a busy day that included people coming through the door, local deliveries and even those surprise gifts delivered straight to work.
“As soon as you get a bunch of flowers it puts you in a good mood and makes you happy for the rest of the day and if you’re lucky to receive them on Valentine’s Day that’s even more special,” Ms Greenacre said.
And it’s not just the men but romantic ladies coming in to buy flowers for their beaus.
“Red roses win out hands down. Valentine’s teddy’s and chocolates are another big seller.”
Wildberry Flowers and Gifts located on 50 Blyth St, Altona and will be open from 7am to 7pm on 14 February.
