A DERRIMUT man has been arrested after leading police on a high-speed pursuit through Deer Park on Saturday 2 March.
Officers from Brimbank Highway Patrol observed a Holden station wagon, allegedly driven by the Derrimut man, overtaking another vehicle across solid white lines on Robinsons Rd at around 7.45pm.
The highway patrol police attempted to intercept the vehicle, however the driver failed to pull over and continued travelling on Robinsons Rd towards Westwood Dve.
The police began to pursue the Holden driver, who continued onto the Western Highway and allegedly reached speeds of up to 175 kilometres.
After police terminated the chase, the driver stopped near the freeway in Derrimut.
Police immediately impounded his vehicle under Victoria’s anti-hoon laws and the 25-year-old driver was arrested at the scene.
The driver has been charged with conduct endangering life, evading police and various other traffic offences.
He will appear at Sunshine Magistrates’ Court on 1 July this year.
