HAIR is a family affair for Deer Park resident Louise Brizzi.
The mother-of-two’s lovely locks will soon be dyed a dazzling shade – for a good cause.
On 17 March, Ms Brizzi will take part in the World’s Greatest Shave at Braybrook Hotel starting at 2pm.
The annual event encourages people to shave or colour their hair to raise funds for the Leukaemia Foundation.
Ms Brizzi said she was inspired to take part in the event after father Noel Walters was diagnosed with lymphoma in November last year.
Ms Brizzi’s brother Jason and her husband Anthony will also shave their heads in the hopes of raising $2000.
Ms Brizzi said members of the Braybrook Football Club, of which her husband is a member, will also attend the event to lend support.
The hotel has even donated the space and prizes for the event.
“When it comes to my Dad, he is the kind of person for whom people will do whatever it takes, he’s the best,” Ms Brizzi said.
“To be honest, this is a way I feel I can help – there is nothing else I can do, I can’t make Dad better but hopefully I can raise funds for a good cause and if it helps a family going through what we went through, even better.”
Ms Brizzi said Noel has three children and 10 grandchildren aged from two months to 13 years old
She said doctors have given her father a “good chance” of surviving his illness after his chemotherapy treatment at the Western Health Hospital in Footscray finishes next month.
The ‘Team Noel’ event will be at the Braybrook Hotel, at 353 Ballarat Rd, Braybrook. There will be a gold coin donation for children’s face-painting and hair spray-painting. See worldsgreatestshave.com or call 1800 500 088 for more information.
