Teen foils knife-wielding attacker

A TEENAGER escaped a knife-wielding robber who attacked him at a Sunshine North park last Monday.
Police said the armed robbery took place at around 11.30pm on 4 March, at Dempster Park in a “poorly-lit area” on Phoenix St.
While walking through the park, a 19-year-old male was approached by another man who demanded his mobile phone.
After the teenager refused to hand his phone to the other male, the would-be robber produced a kitchen knife.
The offender held the knife to the victim’s throat, but the 19-year-old was able to break away and run out of the park before contacting police.
During the altercation the victim’s singlet was torn. Police attended the park but were unable to locate the offender or weapon at the crime scene.
The attacker was described as a male with a thin build who was wearing a dark-coloured top at the time of the offence.
Anyone with information can contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
