Police arrested the 21-year-old after allegedly witnessing him attacking a man in the vicinity of the station last Sunday.
The incident was captured on CCTV footage, which is fed into TV screens monitored at the Sunshine Police Station.
Police believe the man began a conversation with a couple walking past at around 2am. A dispute broke out between the two men and the offender allegedly grabbed his victim by the throat and threw him to the ground. Police will allege that he kicked the 28-year-old Sunshine man while he was on the ground.
Police officers manning the station saw the altercation on the CCTV monitors and captured the alleged offender in the vicinity of the station at around 3am. He was interviewed by detectives at the Sunshine Police Station and remanded in custody. He appeared in the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday and will reappear to face charges at a later date.
